Edeneb/It is progressing

Ilusat Vabariigi aastapäeva! Nüüd on üks varrukas olemas ja teine pooleli. Arvan, et paari päevaga saab sviiter valmis.
Happy Estonian Independence day! Now one sleeve is finished and I am in the middle of the other one. I  think in a couple of days I will complete it.
Siin on natuke näha minu käsivarre peegeldust.
Here you can see a little bit of my arm reflection in the window.
Ka siin on 2 x 2 soonik. Kaeluse soonik on kootud 3,5 mm vardaga (sviitri ülaosa kuni kaenla all ühendamiseni on 4 mm-ga, edasi 4,5 mm-ga). Aga varruka sooniku tegin 4 mm.
There is 2 x 2 ribbing here, too. The ribbing on the neck opening was knitted with 3.5 mm needles (the upper part of the sweater before joining under arms was with 4 mm needles and after joining with 4.5 mm needles). The ribbing at the bottom of the sleeve is with 4 mm.

Asjade seis/The state of affairs

Kuna poes pole ikka veel lõnga, et saaksin halli sviitri lõpetada, jätkan musta sokilõngasviitrit. Halli sviitri jaoks oleks vaja üsna vähe lõnga: alla peaks kuduma 5-7 cm, ja ongi kogu lugu.
Since the store still does not have yarn for me to be able to finish the grey sweater, I am working on my black sock yarn sweater. I need only a little bit of yarn for the grey sweater: only to knit 5-7 cm of the torso and that's it.
Enne soonikut on üks pahempidine rida, on hea eraldusjoon.
I discovered that I like 2 x 2 ribbing and wider ribbing in general. The neck opening has 2 x 2 ribbing (with thinner needles but with a loose bind-off). There is one purl row before the ribbing, it separates the finishing from the rest.
Natuke on näha, et on längus õlad (aga lühikesed read ise pole eriti nähtavad).
You can see that there is a little slope on the shoulders (but short rows are not  quite visible).
Niipalju on praegu kootud. Minu majapidamises pole musti kudumeid kunagi liiga palju.
This is how much I have so far. In my household you can never have too many black knits. You can say that I have more or less worked out the proportions for this construction. Perhaps later I could try a yarn with a different fiber composition (but not very much thicker than this one). Maybe a combination of sock yarn + laceweight wool in a slightly different colour would work well, too.

Vahepealne/Meanwhile

We decided to take pictures of the cardi later when the weather is nice and the light is suitable. Meanwhile I am knitting a sweater from sock yarn.
As you can see, I did some short rows. I like to do them as an element of design (I do not think they are obligatory). In this case it is justified because  there is plain stockinete and the garment construction is very simple.
Hakkan just esi- ja seljatükki ühendama.
I am about to join the front and the back piece.
Eile näitasin Reilie üht lihtsat mustrit. Kudumistrikid kolleegilt kolleegile!
Yesterday I showed to Reili a simple stitch pattern. Knitting tips from colleague to colleague!

Läheb huvitavaks/It is getting interesting

I mean, wheather there is enough yarn. I suppose that there is not but only a little bit is needed.
Üks varrukas on valmis, teisest on kootud umbes kolmandik. Alla oleks vaja kududa veel 5-7 cm.
One sleeve is finished and I have approximately one third of the other. I have to knit the torso for some 5-7 cm more.
Varrukas lõpeb soonikuga, see on pigem dekoratiivne. Kaeluses on samasugune soonik.
The sleeve ends with ribbing, which is more decorative rather than anything else. Neck opening has the same ribbing.
Niipalju lõnga on järel. Et saaks kerade suurust hinnata, panin kõrvale tikutopsi.
This is how much yarn is left. In order to estimate the size of the balls, I put the matchbox.
The most interesting part is that Ropkamõisa store has run out of this colour. So I have to wait anyway. But that is not a problem, meanwhile I am returning to the cardi: after trying on it is all clear.

Paralleelkudumine/Parallel knitting

Kuna tellitud kudumi käekäik sõltub proovidest ja pean järgmist proovi ootama, teen samal ajal midagi muud.
Since the progress of the ordered knit depends on trying on and I have to wait until I can meet the person who ordered it, I am doing something else at the same time.
Maardilaadal ostsin Ropkamõisa lõngapoodnikult halli 8/2 villast. Sellest tuleb lihtne sviiter.
At St. Martin's Fair I bought some grey 8/2 wool from Ropkamõisa yarn store. It is becoming a simple sweater.
Võrreldes varasemate sarnaste sviitritega, tegin natuke lühikesi ridu.
Compared to previous similar sweaters, I did some short rows.
Lõng on mõnus, tõsine villane, sarnane Raasiku (Aade Lõng) villasega.
I don't know whether I have enough yarn for the sleeves or will have to order some. The yarn is plesant no-nonsense wool, similar to Raasiku (Aade Lõng) wool.

Soome kudumissõbrad Tallinnas/Finnish knitting friends in Tallinn

Tore oli jälle kohtuda ja koos kududa! Katja, tänan korraldamast! Arutasime pisut ka tulevast käsitöökruiisi (5.-7. oktoober 2017).
It was nice to meet up and to knit together again! Katja, thanks for organizing this!
We discussed a little bit the future handicraft cruise (5-7 October 2017).
Katja, kiitos järjestämästä!

Jätkan jakki/Going on with the cardi

Ühendasin kaenla all ja nüüd on mõnda aega alla kootud. Kavatsen varsti varrukat alustada, sest teatavasti fikseerib varrukas ülaosa.
I have joined the pieces under arms and knitted downwards for some time. I plan to start sleeves soon because sleeve fix the upper part.
Külgedel on pseudopalmikud.
There are mock-cables on the sides.
Kuna sallkraed veel pole, on esitükid keerdus.
Since the shawl collar is lacking, the front pieces curl.
Ka pahupool on kena.
The wrong side is nice, too.

Sall valmis/The scarf is finished

Suur tänu Maiule piltide eest!
Many thanks to Maiu for the pictures!

I was afraid that it will stretch too much (the length was 2 m before blocking). It did stretch but not too much (now it is 2.3 m). I will have to experiment with the stitch and try pure wool.
Lõng/Yarn: Hot Socks (Gründl), 50 g/210 m, ~ 47 g; Merino Tweed Sock (Katia), 100 g/390 m), ~ 25 g.
Vardad/Neeldes: 4 mm

Kahandan/Decreasing

Teatavasti võib pikkade otstega salli konstruktsioon varieeruda. Nüüd ongi käsil see viimane konstruktsioon.
Apparently construction of a scarf with long ends can vary. You can start from one tip, increase, work straight and then decrease. Or you can stat from the tip, increase, work straight and make the second half as the mirror picture of the first one and then knit together two halves. And you can start from the middle, work straight and then decrease (the second half is symmetric). Now I am wokring at the latter construction.
The yarn is Hot Socks (Gründl), the leftovers from this sweater. But I had about 1.5 balls only. The yarn is available either on the net or in Tartu. I am oldfashioned in the sense that I prefer to go and to buy yarn. At the same time I discovered that I have some leftovers from this shawl. So the decrease section is from a differnt sock yarn but the difference is minimal.
Vaatame, kui palju see pikkusesse venib.
We shall see how much it will stretch in the length.

Mitmesugust/Various matters

Mulle endale ootamatult jõudis üks ripsiga poolpatendis sviitritest Ravelry esilehele. Nüüd kirjutatakse ja küsitakse õpetust. Võib-olla teen retsepti (eesti keeles toimus kooskudumine Facebookis, aga nüüd oleks rahvusvaheline ja Ravelrys).
Quite unexpected for myself one of my garter stitch and half-brioche sweaters got to the first page in Ravelry. Now people are writing and asking for a pattern. Maybe I will make a recipe (Estonian KAL took place on Facebook and an international one would be on Ravelry).

Sall edeneb, see muster meeldib mulle.
The scarf is growing and I like the stitch pattern. Since it is based on ribbing, the fabric tends to contract, yet I hope washing and blocking will help.
